Vegan Satay

Description

These TVP chunks are super easy to prepare and our family thought they were just like the skewers we love from vegan restaurants in the past.

Ingredients
    Basting Sauce
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 teaspoons Corn Starch
  • .5 cups Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ketchup
  • 8 ounces TVP Strips (We used Plant Basics - Hearty Plant Protein - Unflavored Strips, 1 lb, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Low Fat, Low Sodium, Vegan, Meat Substitute)
  • 2 cups Water (to hydrate)
  • 2 tablespoons Seasoning (We used Satl, Sugar, Onion powder)
Instructions
  1. Place TVP in seasoned water and heat in the microwave for five minutes. Let rest three minutes or until soft.
  2. Strain and squeeze out liquid from TVP
  3. Combine ingredients for your basting sauce and simmer until thick.
  4. Place strips on wooden skewers (if desired) and baste with sauce.
  5. Bake at 400° for 20-30 minutes until golden brown and carmalized.
